Our Mission: Village Santa Cruz County (The Village) is a non-profit, member support network, transforming how we age in our communities, through connection with others who value aging as a meaningful stage of life in which growth, social connections, learning and activity continue to flourish.
Area-based Community Circles within The Village provide a venue where members can develop trusted, supportive relationships, helping each other, socializing, and learning from each other as they face the future with increased confidence and assurance.
Our Vision: The Village is a network of Community Circles which are area-based peer-to-peer support groups, coordinated through a central body. Each Community Circle will be able to identify and address the specific needs of older adults within their Circle. Neighbors helping neighbors, our goal is a vibrant, caring community that embraces and enhances transitions of aging.
As a Village we will:
- Have opportunities to enjoy mutual interests and activities.
- Have opportunities to help others.
- Be able to share our individual knowledge with one another.
- Participate in educational presentations that support aging well.
- Be comfortable asking for help to obtain the support needed to live our lives as we best see fit.
As a Village we will:
- Be aware of and adapt to the changing needs of longer lives, often lived without traditional support systems.
- Commit to support each other to the best of our individual abilities.
- Increase our membership consistent with our resources to serve its needs.
- Assure our continuing sustainability through membership dues and fundraising efforts.
- Through innovation and responsiveness remain relevant as a leader in grassroots community organizing for older adults.
Village Santa Cruz County is a member of Village to Village National Network and Village Movement California. The Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz County is our fiscal sponsor.
