About this event
Book Discussion: Book:
Solito: A Memoir, by Javier Zamora. Poet Javier Zamora was born in El Salvador in 1990 during the country’s civil war. His father fled to the United States first, a year after Zamora was born, and his mother followed when he was 5. For the next four years, he lived with his grandparents; then it was his turn to go north. Zamora’s memoir, “Solito,” is a chronicle of that journey, which Zamora made by himself at the age of 9, from a tiny village in El Salvador to Arizona. Zamora is an unaccompanied minor on the trip, but he doesn’t travel alone; he joins a group of adults and children also moving north, and they help him along the journey in vital, life-sustaining ways. @ Member's home in Seabright area.
